Title: NNP/DH/I/FoDS - The Exchange (1/1) By: Susan B. (NNP) & Don Fasig (DH-I) Friday July 13 - 1:00 PM Place: Happy Souvlaki Deli - Deli & FoDS used with permission ---------------- Lex and Grace approached the Happy Souvlaki Deli cautiously. Even though everyone back at the theatre had assured them repeatedly that both the FoDS and Die Hards could be trusted, they were still a little concerned. Understanding the value of what she carried, Lex held her large purse close to her body. Their anxiety vanished somewhat when they opened the door to the place. The restaurant was clean, the staff looked happy, and the customers all seemed to truly be enjoying their food. There wasn't a hint of trouble anywhere. Lex immediately wandered off to find a table, while Grace stepped up to the counter to order a cold drink. The waitress introduced herself with a bright smile, "Hi, I'm Kathy!" she said. "What can I get for you today?" "Do you happen to have caffeine-free diet pepsi?" Grace asked, not really expecting them to, but still hoping. "Right away," Kathy replied. "Anything to eat?" Grace smiled and gestured towards a table in the corner where Lex was sitting. "We're waiting for someone, but we will order lunch when he arrives." "There seem to have been a lot of people meeting here recently with all the strange going-ons," Kathy offered. "You know about them too?" "Schanke just wasn't himself for a while there. Completely taken over." Suddenly a voice blared out from the back kitchen, "Kathy! Can you come here, please!" "Excuse me," Kathy said to Grace. "Be right there Cindy!" she shouted back towards the kitchen. Grace was passing the doorway on her way back to the table when she heard the sound of a motorcycle outside. She peeked out the door and watched as a bearded man got off the bike and removed his helmet. Momentarily turning her head around, she shouted over to Lex, "That must be Don!" Grace stood at the door eager to meet the Die Hard. "You must be waiting for me!" Don said when he reached the door. Grace immediately noticed the package that he held tightly under his arm. "Is that it?" she asked eagerly. "Lunch first," he replied. "I'm starving... and very partial to souvlaki." He took a deep breath of the aromas wafting around the deli and grinned. "And this is the best place in town to get it!" Grace led Don over to the table where Lex was waiting. Kathy, noticing the gentleman guest had arrived, immediately came over to take the table's orders. "I'll have a souvlaki with LOTS of tzatziki sauce and no onions please..." he smiled, "and plenty of napkins." "Have you ladies ever had real souvlaki?" Don asked. As they shook their heads he continued, "May I order for you then?" They nodded nervously, "And two more souvlaki with extra tzatziki on the side." "And plenty of napkins!" Kathy laughed, turning to go. When they had finished eating and the table was cleared, Don, a little reluctantly, placed the large envelope on the table, blocking any access to it with his hand. "This is a very important part of the Prop Museum's collection," he told them. "Did you bring any collateral? Lex pulled her purse up to her lap and started digging through it. "It's right here," she said. "Nat's license plate from Seasons 2 and 3. She quickly flipped it over to show him the back side. "Look! It's even signed!" Don took the offered piece and examined it carefully. Satisfied with its authenticity, he handed his envelope to Grace. "Here's the official script for Episode 225," he said. "No eating, drinking, or dirty hands within 5 feet," he added sternly. The girls nodded their heads in understanding. "Don't worry," Lex reassured him. "We'll get it back to you early next week." "I'll bring it over personally to the Prop Museum," Grace added. The three stood up and shook hands before departing the Deli and going their separate ways. ----
