Worries Upon Worries by Sandra Gray Place: The Loft Time: Friday, July 6, 2001 sometime before "Strange Days Indeed" All Knighties used with permission Sandra was on watch at the loft. The loft was protected against electronic or radio surveillance by the Faraday shield, but that still didn't mean that they shouldn't be on guard against physical intrusion. Although some of the Knighties were watching TV and talking, Sandra was able to tune them out. She could always tune out when she was brooding about something. Her face took on a glazed expression as her thoughts turned back to the day before. *******Flashback******* Place: The Loft Time: Thursday, July 5, 2001, not long after "Two Ships Passing in the Knight" "Why did we let Nick go with Nat?" asked Sandra. "What do you mean?" asked Nancy. "Why are you all accepting that there's been a personality switch between them? I mean, does that make any real sense to any of you?" The other Knighties looked at her thoughtfully. "How in the world could such a thing happen? Maybe Nat and Nick have both been whammied into thinking they're in each other's bodies," Sandra continued. "Why?" asked Min. "I don't know! We might have just delivered Nick into the hands of his enemies!" "The NatPack?" said Eowyn. Sandra looked nonplussed for a moment. "No." Then she rallied again. "But really, what would have caused a personality switch? Even if it's not an attack, there could be something else wrong. Nick bit Nat once. Maybe what's happening is that they've both become connected somehow and when Nick started suffering from his delusion, Nat was somehow mentally affected by it too." The others just looked at her. Finally Katrinka said, "Well, why didn't you say something while they were still here?" "I don't know. Too stunned by it all, I guess." She paused and then added, "Didn't any of you think that Nick--that is, the Nick in Nat's body--seemed to be too calm and collected about what had happened to him? Does that sound right?" "Nick wasn't very upset when that asteroid was going to hit the earth," said Min. "Well," said Katrinka, "what do you think we should do, Sandra? They're gone already." Sandra sat down. "I guess the only thing to do is contact the NatPack and make sure they got to Nat's apartment okay. And maybe make sure Nick...Nick's body is returned to us?" *******end Flashback******* Sandra shook herself back to reality. *They probably think I worry too much,* she thought. *Maybe I do.* She looked over at the Nick in Nat's body. She still wasn't sure that an actual switching of personalities had taken place and still worried about Nick. She hoped the NatPack would keep him safe.
