Plot Twists (1/3) by Sandra Gray Place: The loft Time: Thursday, July 12, 2001, afternoon Everyone used with permission Note: LaCroix is in Nick's body. Just remember that 'coz I just can't call LaCroix "Nickbody." :) "Hey, look what I found in the garage!" said Min. She was carrying a box. LaCroix looked up at her from his leather chair. He took another sip of cow blood, careful to not flinch. How his son stomached this stuff-- If it wasn't for the opportunity to observe Nicholas' followers and what they had found out about the mysterious switches of personalities that were occurring, he would have gone back home. "Twister!" shouted a Knightie whose name he didn't know. He watched as the two girls unpacked a large plastic sheet with large colored dots on it and a cardboard square. "Who wants to play?" "I'll play," said Katrinka. Sandra Gray came down the stairs. "You wanna play Twister, Sandra?" asked Katrinka. "Good God, no! I'm not that flexible any more," said Sandra. She walked on into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. "I'll play," said Brooksie. LaCroix watched as the four Knightie women took off their shoes and stood in their stocking feet. Then Brooksie said, "Spin for us, Nick?" She held out the cardboard square. LaCroix set down his glass of blood and took the square. It had colored triangles matching the plastic sheet, body part indicators, and a center metal arrow. He controlled the urge to raise an eyebrow in disdain. Instead, he looked up at the women and plastered one of Nicholas' pleasant smiles on his face. "Sure," he said. He spun the dial. When it stopped, he said, "Right foot blue." He watched as the women put their right feet on the color. He spun again. "Left hand yellow." He kept spinning, and watched as the women got more and more entangled. One fell, taking the others down with her. LaCroix appropriately laughed, thinking, *They actually enjoy this pedestrian entertainment?* The women got up and waited for him to spin again. After three games, Katrinka got up off the sheet and said breathlessly, "That's enough for me." Surely if the leader of Nick's followers was quitting the game, the others would quit too. Katrinka grabbed the spinner from LaCroix and he inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. She smiled at him and said, "Your turn." *Nicholas couldn't--wouldn't do such a thing.* He picked up his glass of blood and took a drink of it, his eyes going to the kitchen. Sandra Gray was sitting at the table watching him, a smile forming on her lips. *Does she suspect?* thought LaCroix. He looked back at Katrinka, who was still waiting expectantly. He smiled. "Okay," he said. He took off his shoes and rose from his chair, joining the others at the mat. *I really need to have a long talk with Nicholas,* he thought glumly as Katrinka spun the dial. to be continued... --Sandra Gray, forever Knightie --sandragray@rica.net
