Knightie/FoD: "Back where it all began" 1/1 author: Cindy Brewer with help from Katrinka time: just before dawn Wed July 11 on the way back from the precient Everyone and the caddy used with permission Schankebody reached over and violently switched off the caddy's radio. "Schank, how many times have I said no polka in the Caddy?" Nickbody rolled his eyes as he reached for the radio. "Oh come on partner lighten up a little....with all the weirdness we've been through this week I could use a little good polka." Schankebody groaned and leaned his head back against the headrest. "All the weirdness as you put it is exactly why I need the peace and quiet." Nickbody turned the radio knob and instnatly polka music filled the Toronto night. /Lift your feet. Lift your feet. Lift your feet. Be careful where you put them down. Put them down. Put them down. Put them down. Be sure you put them on the ground/ "Schank...."Schankebody warned. It had been a long night and the personality switch hadn't helped matters. Nickbody shook his head a smile starting to form. "You're just irratable because you ate those six choclate eclairs and have a stomach ache....I tell ya I better not have to take any sickdays because of the food you've been piling away pal of mine." "I had to keep up your image now didn't I?"Schankebody shot back trying to ignore the irrating sounds coming from the radio. "Hey now that's...."Nickbody broke off the protest as he felt hsi stomach do a werid flip flop. Suddenly dark spots swam in front of his eyes and for a brief minute he thought he was going to faint. His hands slipped off the wheel. The caddy crossed the yellow line and narrowly missed a taxi cab as it thundered onto the curb and smashed head long into a light post with a sickening crunch. Nick came too first and struggled into a sitting position as he looked over at his partner in the passenger seat. Nick blinked.....the switch had caused the crash....they were back to normal. Or as normal as they got. Gently Nick touched Schanke's right shoulder trying to rouse him. "Hey Scank? You okay?" "Schanke?" Don groaned as he lifted his head and slowly opened his eyes. "Man oh man...what the hell hit us? My head feels like it split in two." "Nothing hit us, Schank."Nick replied as he got out of the car. "Well we hit a light post but we're back to normal." Schanke sat up a little too fast causing a wave dizziness to wash over him. "Really?"after the dizziness past he looked down to confirm that he was in fact back in his own body. "Thank God...not that it wasnt' fun bein' you for a change Knight." Nick however wasn't listening as he exaimned the damage done to the Caddy by the light post. The front fender was scratched and bent and the left headlight was smashed. "Schank....I am never, ever letting you drive this car again." Schanke winced but then something made him look at the sky. Dawn was rapidly approaching. "Well you better make an exception partner because the sun's comin'." Nick groaned but walked around to the back of the car. "It seems to be driveable. Pop the trunk." Schanke shook his head. "The trunk again? Come on Nick you're not that...." "Schank...." "Okay okay....I don't want Natalie on my back...."Schanke replied as he hit the right lever. The trunk popped open and Nick slid into the comforting darkness and shut the lid. end
