Knighties of Chicken By Katrinka of the Knighties Time: Takes place several hours after Quiet Knighties of Quiet Stars (01/01) All Knighties and Nick used with permission It was a lazy Sunday afternoon. Not all Knighties were lying around the loft, but the large majority where. Nancy, fearless security expert was yet again checking the faraday shield. Maria was tending the roof garden. Eowyn and Katrinka were in the garage practicing for the upcoming wrestling match. A group of Knighties watched the leaders practicing. Sitting in the middle of the group was Detective Nick Knight. Eowyn, the former pro wrestler had set up a mini wresting area using a trampoline. "Now all you have to do is clothesline me." "Why would I do that?" Katrinka asked horrified. "You are defending the honor of Nick!" "I don't like violence!" "Then why did you challenge someone to a wrestling match?" "I don't know. I can't remember." Katrinka scratched her head. "I was whammed!" The red head stomped off the match. "We're toast!" "I can learn!" Katrinka insisted. "You just don't have that killer drive." Eowyn sighed. "We're going to loose, we're going to loose." "I can hear it now." Tracey sighed. "Nunkies rule, Knighties drool." "Kat! You're going to humiliate the Knighties." Brooksie accused. "That toff nosed, snoot faced baldie will win!" Jenn stamped her foot. "Yeah! The honor of Nick Knight will be destroyed!" Min agreed. "They'll think Nick's lower then Screed if we loose!" What's this thing called honor that you speak of?" Katrinka asked. "This isn't the Middle Ages!" "You're a chicken!" Lisa sneered. "Why did you pick her as leader?" Tracey asked Nick. "Chicken!" Lisa repeated. "I'm not chicken!" Katrinka insisted. "Why don't you quit the war?" Min demanded. "I love Nick! I love the Knighties!" "We don't believe you!" Katrinka began to cry. She ran out of the garage and into the loft. Nick Knight surveyed his followers. "You should be ashamed of yourselves!" "It's her own fault!" Min sneered. "How can it be her fault?" Nick demanded. "She's the one that challenged the Nunkies!" Tracey said. "We need a new leader." Eowyn told Nick. **************** All alone, the Knightie leader packed her bags. If the Knighties didn't want her, she wouldn't' stay. She couldn't help the tears that fell. She would miss her friends. She could see Nick watching her from across the loft. She whipped the tears off her face, and continued to pack. Suddenly Nick was at her side. The Knightie leader yelped. "Don't do that!" "Sorry," Nick tried to smile. "Have you picked a new leader yet?" "Do we need one?" "I've been deposed." She shut her suitcase and locked it. "I'm not worth to lead the Knighties." "Isn't that for me to decide?" Nick asked. "I don't stay where I'm wanted, and I'm not wanted here!" Katrinka said firmly. "What if I gave you a bit of courage." "You mean a whammy? I don't want to be whammed again!" Katrinka insisted. Before she could say anything else, Nick had grabbed her by the shoulders. Suddenly Katrinka was talking to Nick, but she was on the other side of the room. "How did I get here?" "You must be tired." Nick smiled. "You want to try and wrestle again?" A few minutes later, Nick brought the Knightie leader back into the garage. He put his arm around Katrinka. "We had a long talk. I think she'll be able to defend my honor." Eowyn looked at Nick with some skepticism. "Are you sure?" "Let's give her a try." Nick looked at Katrinka. "Give it a try Kat." That was the entire Knightie leader needed. She jumped into the ring and gave one Eowyn one of the hardest clotheslines she had ever gotten. Without giving the other Knightie room to breathe she picked her up and gave her a bodyslam. "Wow! Katrinka's turned into a tiger!" Tracey said with awe. "Stop! I give up!" Eowyn said, getting to her feet. As soon as Katrinka stepped out of the ring, the Knighties gathered around her. "That was fab!" Lisa said. "I don't know what got into me." Katrinka said with some awe. "It doesn't matter." Nick smiled. "What matters is that Katrinka and Eowyn will defend the honor of the Knighties!"
