"Help, Don's taking us shopping!" (2/2) Authors: Senara, with help from Cindy Timing: July 9th just past 7 am Everyone used with permission. Continued from part one: Don was whistling as he drove to the nearest mall, but it wasn't a polka. The girls were starting to fear for their friend's sanity. Not only did he pass the K-mart, he passed the Wal-Mart, and he passed several other discount stores. Worse than that, he didn't even look to see how packed the parking lots were. (Not that packed it was just past 8 am. Yes, Schanke took the long route.) In other words, the girls were in trouble. They didn't know where they were going, and worse yet, neither one was yet capable of coherent thought. No caffeine yet for either of them. And Don was still singing. And wired. And suddenly, there was silence from the front of the car. Don's next words didn't ease the girls' fears that something was wrong with their friend: he had remembered his wedding anniversary. Without. Any. Prodding. From. The. FODs. Cindy's knuckles were white from grabbing the handle of the door. Senara put her hand over her eyes as she asked the inevitable question: "And what are you going to get for her?" And silently wished for a large coffee. Very large. "I thought I would treat Myra to a nice dinner out and then with your help, throw a party!" Schanke's explanation stunned the girls. "So lets get something nice for me to wear. And maybe some new shirts this one's a little tacky. Do you think we should get something other than moose pjs?" Not ones to look a gift horse in the mouth, the girls suggested many places to go shopping. And the clincher? Knight was going to pick up the bill as an anniversary present. "He's a very generous guy," Schanke explained. end
