FoD: a pink rat isn't the only one with a tale of revenge 2/2 author: Cindy Brewer with help from Mildred from the Mercs Time: just before dawn Thursday July 12 Place: The moose lodge and CERK Everyone and everything used with permission "Ow!" Cindy whispered as she banged her shoulder into the living room wall of the moose lodge. "Bad wall....why are you trying to attack me at this unGodly hour of the morning?" Why did I plan this attack for dawn? Cindy thought miserably as she maneuvered through the dark living room doing her best not to wake the others or have any other walls or inanimate objects attack her. Twenty minutes later Cindy stuffed everything she needed into her gray back pack and quietly let herself out of the Moose Lodge. ******** One good thing about a dawn attack was that there wasn't any traffic on the roads. Cindy made it to CERK in just under ten minutes. She left the black PT Cruiser (tm) parked a block away and walked toward the radio station. As she crossed the street toward the station Cindy saw a blonde woman wearing paint splattered combat pants and a matching shirt step into the light of a lamp post. "Mildred?" Cindy asked quietly as she approached. The woman smiled and nodded. "Yes, nice to meet you Cindy. You have what I asked for?" Cindy grinned and took a thermos and small bag out of her back pack and handed them to the Merc. "Bagels and orange-cranberry muffins." Mildred eagerly took the thermos and bag of muffins. "You have no idea how much I needed this...I am so not a morning person, no matter how my my body tries to tell me otherwise." "Neither am I." Cindy replied stifling a yawn. "I had three mocha cappuccinos between here and the Moose Lodge just to stay awake." After a few minutes Mildred put the now empty thermos back in Cindy's back pack. "Let's get moving. I doubt any of the Cousins are early risers but I'd like to be out of here before the sun rises too high." "Good idea." Cindy replied as they moved toward the left side of the building. "Do you have what we need?" "Yeah I stashed the supplies in the basement earlier." Cindy stopped in surprise. "How?" Mildred grinned a patented . "Merc trade secret... but come on, because some of that stuff is heavy." The two women quietly let themselves into a side entrance and headed down to the basement. ******** After gathering the supplies Mildred and Cindy moved up the stairs to the Cousin's living quarters which were modified offices. "It's so still." Cindy whispered anxiously as she glanced up and down the hallway and shifted her burden from her right arm to the left. Mildred flicked on a flashlight. "It's a good sign. Let's start at this end and work our way back to the door." "Okay." Cindy replied as she hurried to catch up with the Merc. ******* Just as dawn was starting to color the sky the two women paused to survey their handiwork. Every single piece of furniture with the exception of the beds that were occupied were now lovely shades of plaid. Because of the hour, Mildred and Cindy got a little silly, and started using some color combinations that only happened in nightmares. Cindy grinned as she slung her backpack over her shoulder. "That'll teach them to frame the FoD's. Let's go before somebody wakes up." Mildred nodded and they went out of CERK the same way they came in. On the sidewalk, Cindy shook Mildred's hand. "Thanks a lot for this. It is always a pleasure to work with the Mercs." "It's not a problem. That's what we're here for. I'm also looking forward to slovaki and Greek salad for lunch." end
